The Living Bioluminescent Globe

This is the globe aquarium filled with living single-celled plankton that glow with bioluminescent light at night. The orb is made from hand blown glass and houses dinoflagellate plankton (Pyrocystis fusiformis) that produce an ethereal blue glow when moved. The blue illumination comes from a natural biological process triggered by photosynthesis that occurs during the day. Similar to a plant, the orb actively removes CO2 and toxins from the air and replenishes fresh oxygen in a room. The aquarium comes with two 7 oz. pouches of dinoflagellates and 7 oz. of dinonutrient seawater. Must be opened within 24 hours of delivery. 6" Globe with flat bottom. (2 1/4 lbs.)
